Prescription Diet Pills

There are many people that could benefit from the health effects of losing weight. Most doctors recommend that their patients change their diets and get more exercise to try to lose weight. When this does not work, though, they often prescribe weight loss drugs. Two of the most common drugs in prescription diet pills are Phentermine and Xenical. These drugs have helped many people lose weight, but before taking the drugs one should consider whether the health benefits of losing weight are greater than the negative side effects that can be caused by prescription diet drugs such as Phentermine and Xenical.

Are Drugs Safe Just Because Your Doctor Prescribes Them?

Many people think that prescription drugs must be safe because they are prescribed by doctors. What they do not realize is that doctor-prescribed drugs kill more people every year than illegal street drugs. The harmful side effects that can be caused by diet drugs can ruin your life or even end it. We do not like to think about our medical system in this way, but there are many doctors who are in the “pockets” of pharmaceutical companies. These doctors are looking to make a quick profit by selling drugs that they know could hurt patients. As profit is the only thing these companies care about, it is impossible to trust drug makers who say that all of their drugs are safe. The reality is, prescription diet pills can be hazardous to your health. Just because your doctor prescribes them to you does not mean that they are safe.

How Bad Can the Side Effects Be?

The negative side effects that can be caused by prescription diet pills cannot be overly exaggerated. Some of the side effects that can be caused by Phentermine and Xenical are relatively harmless. These side effects include unpleasant taste, dry mouth, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, tiredness, clumsiness, and changes in sexual desire. While these side effects might be annoying, most patients can suffer through them relatively easy to reap the health benefits of weightless. These side effects might be relatively benign, but the more serious side effects include irregular heartbeat and psychosis! That means that you could take a pill to lose weight so that your heart will be healthier, but you might actually be causing heart health problems. You are also taking the risk of developing a psychosis that could destroy the quality of life that you have.

Losing weight is a great way to improve your health. However, prescription diet pills are not the best way to accomplish your weight loss goals. The risk of developing side effects that could cause serious medical and mental problems simply is not worth it. If dieting and exercising are not working for you, then you should try over-the-counter diet pills that do not require a doctor’s prescription. The reason that prescription drugs have heavier regulations is that they are more dangerous than OTC weight loss drugs. Instead of putting your health at risk, try the pills that do not contain drugs which could hurt your health rather than improve it.
